Where It Started

At 42, something shifted. After years of putting everyone else first — my husband, my three boys, our home — I finally gave myself permission to just be me. That's when I laced up my running shoes again. My husband did too. And somewhere between the miles logged on a garage treadmill and the quiet that follows a good run, Garage Glam Goods was born.

But getting back to running wasn't simple. It never is when your body has been through what mine has.

The Story Behind the Brand

After my boys were born I was a moderate runner — nothing serious, just enough to feel like myself. Then on a family vacation, a disc completely broke off and lodged itself inside my spinal sac. Spinal fluid began leaking. What followed was emergency back surgery, far from home, away from my children, in the middle of what was supposed to be a family trip. It was one of the most terrifying and humbling experiences of my life.

The recovery was long and painful. I stopped running. I stopped exercising. I gained weight. And I lost a part of myself I didn't realize I was losing until it was gone. For years I was afraid — afraid of re-injury, afraid of pavement, afraid to trust my own body again.

Then at 42 I decided to stop being afraid.

I found my way back — not to the roads, but to a treadmill in my garage. Safer. Steadier. Mine. And what happened next I didn't expect — I fell more in love with running than I ever had before. Maybe because it had been taken away. Maybe because this time my husband was running beside me. Maybe because reclaiming something you lost hits differently than anything you've never had to fight for.

A Family Built This

My husband and I have been married for 20 years. We have three boys — 17, 15, and 12 — and almost five years ago we made a decision together to invest in our health and in each other. What started as a shared fitness journey became something much bigger. It became a business, a creative outlet, and a way to build something meaningful as a family.

My husband discovered pottery and threw himself into the craft with the same patience and precision he brings to everything he does. I found my voice through running, through resale, through the handmade candles I've been pouring in rescued jars since I was pregnant with our youngest — because citrus smells made me sick and I needed something that didn't.

Life has a sense of humor. Now citrus is one of my best sellers.

Why I Built This

I started this business because I kept thinking — I wish someone had told me this sooner. I wish someone had shared their favorite treadmill tips, their honest comeback story, their real journey back to themselves. So I decided to be that someone.

For every woman who has been sidelined — by surgery, by fear, by life — and is quietly wondering if she can find her way back.

She can. I did.

At 47 I am more myself than I have ever been. This business is proof of that.
